I put an entry on earlier today which is titled infusing is not confusing…where I combined some comics again, another montage or collage, as it were, another play on the nexus.
Since I like to play with words:
“a: to cause to be permeated with something (as a principle or quality) that alters usually for the better”. One would think something that can alter “for the better” would be in a lot of demand. But it ain’t necessarily so. “b: introduce insinuate <a new spirit was infused into American art” Well, that makes me wonder, was a Spirit actually infused into art? “2: inspire animate <the sense of purpose that infuses scientific research” Oh I like the way they put that, a sense of purpose. THAT’’s something I can relate to. “3: to steep in liquid (as water) without boiling so as to extract the soluble constituents or principles” There have been many times water has extracted principles. “4: to administer or inject by infusion <stem cells were infused into the patient” Now THAT one is much more subtle because most would be thinking, who is the patient…but more importantly it’s how patient is… The synonyms: synonyms infuse suffuse imbue ingrain inoculate leaven mean to introduce one thing into another so as to affect it throughout. infuse implies a pouring in of something that gives new life or significance <new members infused enthusiasm into the club>. suffuse implies a spreading through of something that gives an unusual color or quality <a room suffused with light>. imbue implies the introduction of a quality that fills and permeates the whole being <imbue students with intellectual curiosity>. ingrain , used only in the passive or past participle, suggests the deep implanting of a quality or trait <clung to ingrained habits>. inoculate implies an imbuing or implanting with a germinal idea and often suggests stealth or subtlety <an electorate inoculated with dangerous ideas>. leaven implies introducing something that enlivens, tempers, or markedly alters the total quality <a serious play leavened with comic moments>. |
I always like finding a few words worth highlighting..
Zappos delivers. The beau got his birthday present today, so he now has a shirt and shoes to match. Actually, this is the first time in a year that he has a pair of shoes that aren’t totally falling apart.. The last time I ordered them was in 2005, so you can imagine there wasn’t much left to them. People take for granted that other people have shoes…well, if they don’t buy them for themselves, and they wear the same ones everyday, then what they wear is often not worthy of being called a shoe after a year. It becomes more duct tape and thread than anything resembling a shoe.
Not having money to buy a pair of shoes doesn’t help. It isn’t like it’s a big splurge either, the man needed a pair of shoes, and since he has been trying to get out to appointments on a broken hip, and it is January, I figured I needed to just do it. So, I ordered a pair from Zappos, and they being true to fame, delivered in one day. I was pleased.
There’s nothing like stepping into someone else’s shoes…
I have not yet done an anagram today, but you can be sure it will relate to life as I know it.
