hematite

Hematite was on the last post, but I forgot to put another connection on the post. My mind has had many interruptions, so it doesn’t surprise me. Dinner, dogs, demands. This is a piece of hematite, with a rose formation on it. Along the river here in Madison, there is a concrete form, which I was told was a support for an old water tower. When I took a photo of it I later noticed another form in the photo. Things do seem to be connected.

not the rusty kind

Hematite (or Haemetite) was on my mind last night. It kept coming to me over and over again. I even put the word hematite into the search engine so I could look at it first thing this moring. Well, the beau turned the computer off this morning. I found him in front of it with a blank screen when I woke up. He said he had played a game for an hour and then the computer started go haywire, so it happened as I was waking up. Life’s weird here.

The name hematite comes from the Greek word for blood.  Hematite, also known as “red iron ore”, is an oxide of iron that occurs naturally along the entire length of Red Mountain, so when I was looking for  hematite my search took me to Vulcan Park in Alabama, where I viewed the largest cast-iron structure ever made. Though interesting, that’s not what I was looking for today. My hammer was left on the porch for about a month, so when I found it today, it was rusty. Red hematite is rust-like. I was looking for the dark gray kind with the nice luster.  My mom’s favorite stone.

scarabs.jpgThe ancient Egyptians carved hematite into scarabs. (NYTimes link from 1902) Scarabs were in the comics today, and part of the text went into my collage that I did earlier. While looking for a specific thing, that thing I would supposedly know when I found it, I came across a recent article about hematite conducting electricity and they mentioned “pyramid-like mounds rising”. I make some weird connections, I know. Ancient Egyptians considered iron a divine metal. Many hematite artifacts including magnetic jewelry, amulets and mace heads have been found in Egypt. It still wasn’t exactly what I was looking for.

The Romans associated hematite with Mars, the god of war. Mars. Yes. Martian hematite, found on a NASA site…

I guess it was just another Martian Opportunity to connect some dots.  ;)

This by the way is a scarab:

New Kingdom 1550 - 1070 B.C.; black steatite or hematite; underside inscription carries image of vulture with a “nefer” sign (meaning good or beautiful), supported by a “neb” basket meaning “lord.”

This is an Egyptian headrest amulet…I guess I connected enough dots for the night.

“To ensure that you keep your head”

in the queue

“Frankly, I’m flummoxed” was the quote I heard on FX’s King of the Hill cartoon as I prepared today’s collage (it was then about 1:54 PM).

I got a good laugh, considering my post about flummoxing.

Here’s the collage, with today’s anagram in it.

The text:”Now mind you, this is a hypothetical question…” reveals this anagram:

“Oh, my quote’s a distinct hint help is on way, Oui!”

It’s good enough for now

One of those blogs where you need to go back a few entries in order to connect some of the anagrams, comics, or collages, as is often the case of art imitating life.

Why I'm here...

A friend told me I should blog here. I use Cosmic Bubbles to make a connection between an inner and outer world, where comics anagram to a functional place in my life. I write in nexus form, (at least that is what I call it) because one thing builds on another generally. I am led to use my senses in ways most people might not, because I am aware of a natural presence, I guess I should say. I talk to God, Jesus, ET, the Big Guy, "them." Some may now say, OK, let's move on, find another blog, this woman is just nuts (something I may have said a few years back myself). But you might not...you might just find something else a little eerie, a little fun, spooky maybe in an Einsteinian way. Tying anagrams to daily life or a continuing series of concepts may just give you another perspective, allowing you to become a bit more aware of yourself in the scheme of things. It is always better to go back a few posts because one post alone doesn't really tell you what is going on here. What does go on is a connection, where sometimes I write a thought and I hear something on TV to clarify the thought I just had. Yes, I believe thoughts are real things, they manifest in ways I did not know about until the past couple of years. I used concrete examples, documenting as best I can as things occur, so people can see the synchronicity of the moment, the coincidence as it were, if you believe things are so random. Well, I believe all things are possible, and I show that every day in some small way.
