at the bottom of the bottom

July 10, 2008

Babar the elephant is depicted with a bottom quark hanging around his “bottom” on part of one of my previous collages (June 22nd). I just read the news that physicists have discovered a new particle, the bottom most, “bottomonium”.  It is strange the ways things work.  ;)

(PhysOrg.com) Published: 6 hours ago, 15:46 EST, July 10, 2008 – Thirty years ago, particle physics delighted in discovering the “bottomonium” family—the set of particles that contain both a bottom quark and an anti-bottom quark but are bound together with different energies. Ever since, researchers have sought to ascertain the lowest energy state of these tiny yet important particles.

Now, for the first time, collaborators on the BaBar experiment at the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) have detected and measured the lowest energy particle of the bottomonium family, called the ηb (pronounced eta-sub-b).
The world is accelerating in many ways these days, isn’t it? I wonder what’s coming up next?

“Comics text used to spell out how funny universe and world began, one faith’s story; queer how one hand takes away sight, not path.”

I guess everything I do with comics is kinda’ queer, isn’t it? I’d really like to see someone else do this stuff to see what kind of results they get. It could be interesting. I like this collage today.

I enjoyed the collage’s conversation today. The butterfly thing was a real hoot today, with one of the angels in the comic already a butterfly it was no big jump for me to use the photo of a butterfly that my friend and I had discussed yesterday when she told me about her walk. You will see da vinci got in, a reference to echoes, theory, etc., etc., and if you have not followed the blog will be amused maybe but not understand how each day flows from one to the next, with non sequiturs now making more sense than ever, to the point that the comics even admit it. ;)   Life is funny. I should know.
