one verse after another

July 14, 2008

What a universe! Cartoon or otherwise. I have found the comics are quite revealing these days…as is to be expected in the times of revelation. Revelation means to reveal. Today I reveal a few references to the bible via the comics. Some numbers are actually given while others are realized.

In the collage I have used comics found today from one of 5 or 6 sites. That which was hidden was revealed and the verses written with comics or parts of comics that correspond. I suppose I cheated a little because I went to the last camp meeting last night, and the preacher mentioned revelations, the pearly gates, toes, how a clam forms a pearl, what it’s like to go shopping in a jewelry store and realize there is nothing there you want or desire. I am sure others will remember the sermon differently, but that’s OK. The preacher also talked about how big heaven might be, saying God likes “big” and I thought, hmmm, well it is a good thing I looked up how high it was to space so I would have a clue for the kind of measurement he was describing.  8)

I woke up yesterday dreaming about Jesus coming in an RV/bus-like vehicle to pick me up after I had just turned down a gorgeous mansion furnished with the finest of everything. You name it it was in the dream house. I turned it all down for a ride in the front seat with Jesus, and in my dream He let me pull the handle to open the door for those coming in. It reminded me of the days when Grandpa and I rode around in the Jeep and he let me work the right hand windshield wiper so I could see from where I was sitting in the front seat, right next to him. Those were the days…

Funny thing about being in the front seat with Jesus, I remember waking up and thinking He didn’t look anything like I thought He would. He kinda’ reminded me of how my Grandpa would’ve looked at that age…about the age of 33, kinda’ how my mom described Grandpa with a lovely olive colored skin, dark hair… anyway….

In the dream there was no steering wheel really, or at least it seemed Jesus didn’t need to touch the vehicle to make it go. Somehow it just went, and it knew where to stop, too. It’s been a while since I remembered such a vivid and colorful dream. Almost didn’t wanna wake up, you know those kind.

A few look-ups for you (hey I had to look them up after I “got” them) are Genesis 1:26, Isaiah 62:5 and John 7:29.  There’s an original “card” in today’s collage as well. I don’t normally do this sort of thing, but it came in my mail today and the buttons seemed to go rather nicely with the cartoon with all the buttons and the leaf design, well, the leaf design from the card kind’a looks like someone’s ear in the collage…see it?  It’s between where the woman says, “-so to speak…” and where the guy says, “Come on!”

God certainly has a sense of humor.
