triumphal arching

August 2, 2008

The Arc de Triomphe is so colossal that three weeks after the Paris victory parade in 1919, marking the end of hostilities in World War I, Charles Godefroy flew his Nieuport biplane through it, with the event captured in a newsreel. (Melville Wallace, La vie d’un Pilote de Chasse en 1914–1918, 1978. The film clip is included in The History Channel’s Four Years of Thunder. Wikipedia)

Hmmm. I read that today after the Arc de Triomphe showed up in my anagram which reads, “My funny Atlantean Vickie found a lovely way to visit the Arc de Triomphe. It’s roomy enough to fly through! Believe that? Some man did that after his war duty. Wily eye set.” Like that one?

Two collages today. Why? Because the universe said so. The mini-collage is from the black and white collage shown.

late anagram

OOPS! Since I mentioned bridges (the Madison-Milton was mentioned) in my bridge anxiety or no post yesterday, and did the usual collage before that post (OMG I have Thutmosis!!!) I figured I should put this anagram (from text in the collage) in one of those posts, but since I am a day later I am just giving it a separate post. The mini-collage contains the text I used.  The anagram reads, “He looked at the Madison-Milton bridge. We are satisfied that it will last a while yet. We’re glad the WWW assured you all I’m a woman.”
