a new oldie

August 18, 2008

Oh boy! Today my friend gave me a little gray Apple iMAC! It’s like a brand new machine, but a lot slower than I am used to with my PC. No matter. How cute! It is a little chubbier than I thought, but many of us are.  ;)  Oh, I know, many of you might say why would I want one of those? Well, I do have a nice PC that my son put together for me, with a  thin, slim monitor, but on occasion the CPU needs to “go for a car ride” to Cincinnati. Seriously, it goes to visit my son and then it is magically fine again. I have done without a computer for a year at a time though, not something I like doing without, especially since I am pretty much stuck in the house most of the time. I have some very thoughtful friends, who are quite aware of the many frustrations in my life. They are sweethearts though.

Mostly there are times when the beau is using it (playing games on line, grrr) that I get tired of waiting for the games to be over 6 hours later when I was in the middle of something; and then it is very late at night and I can’t work on stuff then. It isn’t that easy to just pick up where I left off, not with this brain. So maybe we can switch computers sometimes. His is not working, and if it got fixed there may not be a problem, who knows. I want to network them at some point. I can’t use the iMac for all my stuff because I have a lot of photo files in the PC, but the iMac gives me an option for simple things and another connection as soon as I get the right router. I have a Mac sitting in storage that has been locked up a couple o years. I would like to fix it someday because of the children’s book files in it. Of course the little iMac has no way to use my old floppies either, but maybe I can do something about that in the future. For now I have to find a safe place for it to hang out, rather than just having it sit in the living room chaise.

It’s nice to have a mac and mouse in the house.

daily interpretation

August 18, 2008

Scientists say we can see sound. Yeah. I agree. But just because you can see doesn’t mean you listen. Neuroscience 101 textbook rewrite: “The brain can, if it must, directly use sound to see and light to hear.” (Livescience.com) I use light to hear all the time, and I see things in a way I can’t explain. That’s why I do these collages and anagrams every day.

Today’s collage is a good read, pay attention to the lyrics as they came into play for the anagram.

Today’s anagram came from this random comics text: “Let’s just say there were clues that it wasn’t really ours. We should definitely be very interested in this applicant! Of course! What did you think? I was sort of betting on an alien abduction.”

ANAGRAM:
They’re not stars or satellites but I don’t justify an answer. You wonder then, did she use help? Well, I only show Vickie a bit better gift— a successful daily interpretation. What an education!

no one ever asks

August 18, 2008

Technologies off earth are not of same use. You showed people secret text knowledge that no one remembers, like a moving picture.  No one ever asks why we took an interest. We’re on here like a human family.”

Just a random anagram from the text shown in the comics, folks. Or, it could be aliens really are speaking to us through the comics. ;)
