The words, “Corps of Engineers says it would require lots of work” were telling, as well sizable obstacles”. I found today’s story in the Madison-Courier interesting as it addresses the amount of work that would be required to bring the Mississippi Queen to dock permanently at Madison, Indiana. From the article, Will Mississippi Queen Call Madison Home, “Sizable obstacles would have to be overcome before the Mississippi Queen riverboat could dock permanently at Madison, a goal the owner and developer of River Mill Resort is said to be pursuing.”
See my previous post riverfront if’s for other links to recent local articles.I did do a little check on the company (Ambassadors International) which is selling the steamboat and came across a Seeking Alpha transcript of the September 2008 share-owner meeting, and one from May of 2008 which may be of interest to some. I didn’t see any specific sale prices though. 😉
Those involved locally have declined to comment on the “possibillities” at this time. I just don’t see where all the money would be coming from, considering the plodding progress at riverfront at the moment. I’ll let you know if I see a big boat pull up.
